How
long should the permanent stained smear be examined?
Rather
than responding with a specific number of minutes, the recommendation
is to examine at least 300 oil immersion (X1000 total magnification)
fields; additional fields may be required if suspect organisms
have been seen in the wet preparations from the concentrated
