TESTING : Permanent Stained Smears
Tips
and Pitfalls!
- Use bright light and examine a minimum of 300
oil immersion fields (100X oil immersion objective) before
reporting as negative.
- Screening the smear using the 40X or 50X oil immersions
objectives is acceptable, but smear review using the 100X
oil immersion objective should be performed as well.
- Organisms with typical morphology are used for proficiency
testing challenges.
