STOOL
TESTING OPTIONS:
Tips
and Pitfalls!
- Both
the O&P examination and immunoassay
test(s) should be available on the test menu and both
options should be available as orderable tests.
- A
physician/client educational program should be implemented
prior to adding tests to the menu (such as orderable immunoassays).
They need to know when to order the most relevant test,
how the tests will be reported, the report formats, and
what the format answers mean.
- Information
to the physicians/clients can be distributed in the form
of Email, newsletters, information sheets, in-service
meetings, information in the departmental handbook, etc.
Different groups will require different approaches; multiple
methods tend to be more successful than a single notification
approach.
